BOBfest (Battle of the Bands)
The Chase Youth Commission, Hoffman Music, College Road Recording, and YMCA present the annual BOBfest, Battle of the Bands, in mid-June at the Clocktower Meadow in Spokane’s Riverfront Park. BOBfest is an opportunity for Spokane to help launch local teen musicians toward a musical career. Selected groups participate in a musicians’ clinic, recorded their own original song in a professional recording studio, and perform live in Riverfront Park with a professional backline and road crew.
On June 12th, 2010, twelve teen garage bands competed for prizes from Hoffman Music, recording time from College Road Recording, and paid performances at Riverfront Park’s Fourth of July Celebration, Pig Out In The Park, and First Night Spokane. The event was a great success in bringing together the bands and the community. Each band had the opportunity to play three original songs and be critiqued on their performance by local judges: Lona Barnum, Boris Borisov, Branden Cate, Paul Dillon, Joe Gasman, Dale Strom, and Wade Thames. BOBfest 2010 participating bands included: Act One Scene One, Albatross, Better Than Yesterday, The Cause, Destiny Blauer, Jazz, Kayla Rinaldi, Lazürwuulf, Nothing to Gain, Olaf Olaf Olaf, The Sassmatrons, and Vampire Campfire.
